One of my great passions is art. My dad is an artist, and as a young child I would attend his oil painting classes; every Sunday I looked forward to my painting lesson. Over time, I realized that the time I spent painting really helped me, it allowed me to leave my thoughts and worries aside and to focus on something else. As I got older I started using painting to relax and it still works for me. When I’m stressed or worried I take out a canvas, put on some music and paint.

This is something that all UVic students can now do at UVic Art Hive. On Wednesday’s in the Maclaurin building, the Art Hive puts on a weekly art day where supplies are provided and you have the opportunity to relax and be creative. This is a great opportunity as creativity fosters wellness.
