Noah
Past UVic Student Mental Health Blogger
Hi everyone! My name is Noah, and I am a fourth-year Creative Writing Major with a Minor in Business. I’ve always had a passion for sharing real stories, and I love connecting to people by writing about human life and all its intricacies. My own experience is that I moved to Victoria four years ago from Calgary with some mental health conditions that the stress of first-year university exacerbated. I nearly dropped out as a result. Fortunately, a professor for one of my classes at the time recommended me to counselling and health services, where I have received continued support throughout the remainder of my degree. In that time I recovered from an eating disorder, battled depression, and got sober from drugs and alcohol. As a result, I’m super passionate about spreading mental health awareness to other students who could benefit from the resources available at UVic. I hope that conversations like these eventually eliminate stigmas around mental health so that everyone receives the help they need.
