Get To Know The Talented People On Our Team!
Steeped in research, beginning as students. We can relate to the day to day of campus life, and want to share the tips and tricks we have discovered along the way!

About Rowan:
I came to UVic in 1998 as an undergrad student and was immediately taken by the beautiful west coast. Since then, I’ve worked at the BC Legislature, in various other political roles and (since 2008) for UVic. I spend my spare time away from city-life whenever possible, gardening, hiking in the woods (searching for wild mushrooms!) and walking my dogs.
Random Fact:
I am an avid vegetable gardener. For several years I collaborated in the operation of a small organic market garden in Metchosin, British Columbia. Though I have scaled down production in recent years, I still produce about 95% of the veggies my family eats

Education
- BA Honours in Development Studies – University of Calgary
- MA in Education & Society – McGill University (ongoing)
About Trish:
I grew up in Calgary along the Bow river, with trips to the Rocky Mountains for adventures. We would always spend summer vacation in Victoria with my grandparents and I knew early on that I would trade the mountains for the sea, which I did in 2014. As a child I was sure I would become a marine biologist. I’ve since taken a different path but the natural world still fills me with wonder.
Random Fact:
I love to see how someone else approaches learning and to try to see the world from their perspective.

Education
- BSc in Physics and Math, Mount Allison University
- MSc in High Energy Particle Physics, University of Victoria
- PhD in Medical Physics, University of Victoria (ongoing)
About Mark:
School is my comfort zone. Ever since graduating high school, I’ve taken respite in the Ivory tower. It wouldn’t be long before I was spending every day and night in my undergrad lab, caught somewhere between teaching calculus to first year’s and struggling through upper-year math. Fortune would pair me with an honours supervisor who gave me my first taste of the dark magic that is particle physics, guiding me to grad school in high energy particle physics. Fast forward a few years to graduation, then travelling, a bit of work in the private sector, and right back into the ivory tower to pursue a PhD in medical physics. Problem solving and programming are my passions, matched by a healthy urge to experiment in the kitchen and try new experiences!
Random Fact:
My favourite colour transitioned from royal blue to bright red, and I wish I were ambidextrous.
