Pearl T.

Past UVic Student Mental Health Blogger

Hey!

My name is Pearl and I’m a fourth-year student here at UVic. I study Chemistry for Medical Sciences. I have been passionate about mental and physical health for a long time; this interest started at a young age when I was a frequent patient at SickKids Hospital in Toronto. I moved to Victoria straight out of high school to gain new life experiences in a completely fresh atmosphere. I spend most of my time in lectures or studying in McPherson library.  Outside of my studies, I am the Co-President of Mental Health Society of Greater Victoria and I also volunteer with UVic Mental Health Student Leadership Program and other health-related initiatives on campus. My hobbies include dancing and playing music with friends or spending quality time with those closest to me. I will be graduating in April and I am excited to see what the future holds.

I hope you enjoy the blog!

Nostalgia and Me: A Complicated Relationship

Nostalgia and Me: A Complicated Relationship

Last semester I took an English literature course here at UVic. My professor—the very likeable Andrew Murray—was discussing nostalgia as a common literary theme. He said nostalgia can be described as “the desire for desire”. We long to feel emotions as sharply as we...
