Impreet B.

UVic Alumni Student Mental Health Blogger

Hi, I am Impreet. This is my second year doing mental health blogging. I really enjoyed writing posts last year. My pronouns are she and her. I am from Coast Salish, S’ólh Téméxw, Kwantlen and Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group (Mission, British Columbia). But as of now I reside on Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga, Anishinabewaki, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Wendake-Nionwentsïo territories (Malton, Ontario).

I enjoy reading, some of my favourite books include – Animal Farm, 1984, and Crime and Punishment. I have begun to enjoy hiking, been really getting out in Ontario, and discovering new places. My favourite places on earth one is my car, my safe heaven and second being by water. I love to watch sunsets; it is something about the colours that is just soothing. My passion for mental health and psychology one comes from my childhood and second from watching criminal minds a little too much.

The world is becoming more accepting of mental health and understanding its importance to quality of life. Education about mental health helps to erase stigma around it. It is important as a community to come together and help each other grow stronger. Hope the blog helps to achieve that sense of togetherness and education about mental health.
