Katrina M.
UVic Alumni Student Mental Health Blogger
Hey! My name is Katrina (she/her) and I am a third year psychology major here at UVic, currently living on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen and Songhees peoples.
I am originally from Richmond, BC, but ever since moving in first year, I have fallen in love with the island and wouldn’t imagine being anywhere else. When I’m not studying you can find me outdoors with my friends, whether we’re hiking, going on walks, or exploring cool new spots in Victoria. A few of my other interests include fashion, reading, music of all genres, and anything health and wellness related.
I have always had a strong passion for helping others and as I have gotten older, I noticed that many problems people were facing revolved around mental health. I strive to help others when I can by supporting them in their struggles with mental health, and I want to continue to educate myself and others about the stigmas surrounding these issues. I am so excited and grateful to be a part of the Mental Health Blog team, where I can share my own thoughts and experiences while also gaining insight about other people’s knowledge and experiences!

Where School Ends, and Life Begins
As someone who thrives off balance, these past few months have felt quite off-kilter, as I am sure many of you have also felt. The summer months, which many of us look forward to each year in order to "take a break" from being a student, were nothing like they have...
