On January 30th the ERVN attended the Enviro Roundtable hosted by UVic Campus Planning and Sustainability and University of Victoria Sustainability Project (UVSP). It was great to see familiar faces and meet new faces as well. The purpose of this event was to create an opportunity for all those interested in environmentalism at UVic to chat with others who care about and are taking action to improve our environment. Great conversation (and great food – courtesy of the Community Cabbage) was had.

In preparation for the event, some ERVN folks got together and we foraged for edible native plants for a tea. We  harvested licorice fern root, grand fir shoots, Douglas fir shoots & trailing blackberry leaf. After careful preparation, we served up steaming mugs of our wild winter tea to our fellow students. We found it captured a lot of interest and became a talking piece that allowed us to bring awareness to a lot of issues!

**Reminder to always practice safe and proper harvesting by learning about what plants can be used, and how, before going out. Also a reminder to take proper measures and care in the conservation of all native plants**
