Welcome to the Computer Help Desk
Have you ever experienced the panic that comes when your meeting on Zoom starts in 5 minutes and you aren’t able to login to your account? Do you need help downloading Microsoft Excel on your Mac?
As a student, we are often tasked with navigating technological obstacles to utilize both our learning and communication. While it is quite remarkable the amount we can accomplish thanks to our electronic devices, it is not rare to run into some hiccups when dealing with new technology- or old technology, like a trusted laptop that works every single time except the day of an exam.
Thankfully, the Computer Help Desk is here to help. Consultants at the Computer Help Desk are UVic students themselves, so they know exactly what it feels like to be in your shoes.
Their main job is to assist you with any technology issue you may have, whether it be help with BrightSpace, Zoom, UVic Email, Microsoft 365, or even connecting to campus wifi. If the consultants at the Help Desk are unable to solve your problem themselves, they will efficiently escalate the issue to someone else who can.
To make things easier, the Help Desk offers different types of assistance to best accommodate your needs:
If you’re somewhere quiet (perhaps the library third floor), you are able to send an email and receive a prompt response.
If you prefer hands-on assistance, you can visit one of the many locations and speak to a consultant directly.
If you are off-campus and in need of urgent help, you can call and connect with a consultant over the phone.
The Computer Help Desk has locations in Clearihue, the Business and Economics Building, and the Human and Social Development Building.
