Is That Even A Major?

Hi!

I feel like I haven’t made a blog post in so long, but whether that is from all of the school work I have been doing, or that that my brain seems to have shut off when it comes to ideas, I’m not sure.

Regardless, here I am! Hi, hello, welcome.

If you’re like me and in a small faculty/program, you will have by now (or in the very near future) heard one of my least favourite phrases…”Oh, I didn’t even know that was a program,” or “Why are you doing that as your major?”

If you didn’t know, I have a double major in Creative Writing and Medieval Studies, the former a relatively small program, the latter much more so.

Everywhere I go I find about a million people majoring in business, or some branch of science, but I almost never, like EVER find someone majoring in Medieval Studies.

We are a small but hearty people who can withstand the harshest 14th century winter.

When I tell someone that I am majoring in Medieval Studies, the first thing they think of is this:

When in reality, it it is more like this:

And though the reality is maybe less exciting than the fantasy I am still proud to tell people what I am studying 🙂

So what I am trying to say with this giant spiel, is that even if I you are in a small program, or one that nobody even knows exists, I see you! Even if the bigger programs usually don’t. 🙂
