Random UVic Hailstorm
Ah Victoria—the weather always keeps us guessing.
I was walking through the library today and heard what sounded like pounding rain. I braced myself for a full-out storm that would leave me soaked as I walked across campus to the Engineering and Computer Science Building. But as soon as I got to the front doors and looked out the windows, I saw something unexpected…
Hail. And lots of it.
I feel like hail is somewhat normal for this time of year, but seeing it instantly cover the UVic walkways and Quad, looking like snow, was surprising and kind of exciting! I started snapping photos discreetly on my walk to class (luckily I found the umbrella I shoved in my backpack), trying to avoid slipping.
All the fellow UVic students I passed would give me a smile like, “this is random isn’t it?”
When it comes to weather, I guess nothing is too random for Victoria.
