Meeting the parents (insert scary music)

Feet in SandEven though we have all returned to school and are back working hard and studying for midterms, I thought it would be nice to share another residence/reading break experience with all of you. 🙂

As is expected, most of the people who live in dorms do so because they live too far away to get from their house to UVic everyday. That means that many of these kids do not get to go home and see their families very often (depending how far away home is for them). Because of this, it was decided that my friends (at least some of them) would come home with me for reading break, seeing as my house is just over an hour away.

The plan was to show them around my hometown, eat some of the  home-cooked food that is sorely missed while living in residence and hang out in a place where you don’t need to put on shoes to get into the shower.  My one hope for the four days was that my parents wouldn’t embarrass me too much, seeing as this was the first time they were meeting most of my friends.  I am happy to report that aside from a few blushes and the occasional “mum!” there was no cause to  worry about parental embarrassment.

We went to the beach, ate lunch at my favourite bagel place (Island Bagel: check it out if you’re ever in Duncan) and watched a few terrible “scary movies“.

All in all it was a great, relaxing weekend that gave my friends a look into where I grew up and call home. 🙂Reading Break 2015

Looks like you had an awesome break! Out of curiosity, have you ever tried Mount Royal Bagels here in Victoria?
