Reading Week in the Mountains

This past reading break, I got an amazing opportunity to participate in the Mountain Meteorology field school through the Geography department.

Our group of 10 students spent a full week at without service or wifi at Mount Cain on northern Vancouver Island, snowshoeing, skiing, and learning about everything from mountain weather to avalanche risks.

It was so refreshing to get a chance to do hands-on work and learn about geographic processes and phenomena that are actually relevant to Vancouver Island. Although the course was a ton of work, I am so grateful for the friends I made, the fun I had, and everything I learned. And of course, I had to bring my camera to capture the experience, so I’ve shared some of my favourite photos below:
