My Favourite On-The-Go Breakfast

A lot of the time when I wake up in the morning, I don’t have enough time to make myself a good breakfast. Well, that was until I found a great recipe for overnight oats. I swear I have been eating them for breakfast almost every day since then, and they’re so versatile!

You can add almost any toppings you want to the base of them. I usually add half of a banana, chopped up, a little peanut butter and a small handful of chocolate chips. But there are other toppings you can add instead. You can add peaches and a little bit of cream for a, you guessed it, ‘peaches and cream’ flavour, you can add apples and cinnamon or even some protein powder for a little extra energy and flavour.

The recipe is quite simple as well! Most of the ingredients are general household ingredients, but a few you might have to grab at the store if you don’t already have them.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1/3 cup of rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or regular milk prefer)
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp maple syrup or honey

The Ingredients I Use!

Depending on what milk you want to use you may want to add some vanilla extract. I also like to add some brown sugar and chia seeds to mine to give it some more pizazz. Once you’ve added everything to a container, (I usually use mason jars because they’re easy), it’s up to you to make it your own! Add whatever toppings you’d like and store them in the fridge until you want to eat them!

I usually make them in batches of seven on Sunday evenings, and grab them in the morning and heat them up in the microwave at school when I get the chance! If I’m at home, I’ll warm them up and add just a splash of milk to make them the consistency I prefer.

They’re super easy and soooo delicious! I hope this helps some of you who struggle with time management in the morning, since I know it has helped me a lot!
