What’s In My Backpack – Science Student Edition!

As far as what team I’m on for bags I use for university, I am team backpack without a doubt.

As a science student, I’m usually carrying quite a bit of stuff with me so a backpack is necessary to keep everything organized and my spine from disintegrating.

I use a pretty generic looking black backpack since it matches everything and came in the right size and design for what I wanted. Right now with summer classes I’m carrying fewer items than normal, but here are the basics that I almost always have:

  1. Raincoat
  2. Notebooks
  3. Folder for lab handouts
  4. Folder for syllabi and looseleaf paper
  5. Planner
  6. Lab manual
  7. Lab PPE (lab coat and safety googles; I keep three pairs in my bag because I’m paranoid about not having them for a lab)
  8. Ear plugs
  9. Glasses case
  10. Mini ruler
  11. Lip balm
  12. Calculator
  13. Iclicker
  14. Dry erase markers
  15. Pens and pencils
  16. Case with index cards and sticky notes
  17. USB storage drive
  18. Tape (for sticking lab procedures down to a bench or above the fume hood)
  19. Water bottle
  20. Laptop and charger
  21. Wired headphones
  22. Travel pack of tissues
  23. Case with spare masks
  24. Waterproof backpack cover
  25. Hand sanitizer
