Top 5 reasons why you should travel with your friends
Just in case this entire community blog hasn’t given you enough convincing arguments as to why UVic is so great, here’s another one: UVic gives you not one, but TWO reading breaks: one during mid to late November and another one during early February.
For those of you who don’t know, the real purpose of reading break is to take some time off school and catch up on the work you’ve fallen behind on – particularly readings (hence the name “reading” break).
However, a good portion of the student community understands this term as a break from reading, as opposed to a break to read.
Needless to say, I belong to the latter group of students; thus, I decided to travel back to Mexico City this reading break and bring two of my best friends along!
I have compiled the best 5 reasons (and trust me, there were LOTS to chose from) as to why, contrary to popular belief, you should travel more with your friends.
- No awkwardness!
I mean, they’re already your best friends, so you can skip past the whole “Do you want to sit in the front or back seat?” and the “Oh no, please, you take the last piece of this delicious chocolate cake. I insist.” Instead, you KNOW your tallest friend will want the front seat because it’s more comfortable and you’ll OBVIOUSLY have the last piece of cake yourself – you snooze, you loose, am I right?
- They’re the best company around
Again, you chose them to be your best friends, so you can be sure the conversation will always be interesting and the jokes will be never-ending! Trips with your best friends have a 120% good-time guarantee.
- You can be as blunt/honest as you want
If you’re only travelling with girl friends, there is no guarantee that the trip will be drama free. Let’s be honest, it’s gossipy ladies we’re talking about here. That being said, if there happens to be some sort of drama, you will know how to take control of the situation and deal with the “drama” because you’ll know exactly what’s really going on.
- They never cease to surprise you (and vice versa)
You might think you know pretty much everything about them, but when you travel with friends — or anyone for that matter — you get to experience different things with them which, in the end, is extremely rewarding and will probably bring you even closer to each other.
- Picture-perfect photos are a given
Once again, you’re used to being around them all the time, so your Facebook albums will look like a compilation of the best Kodak moments.
