The Blind Channel Test Centre on West Thurlow Island is conducting research on tidal turbines and other renewable energy sources with the support of $2 million in provincial funding to aid coastal communities in transitioning from diesel fuel to community-owned renewable energy by testing and comparing the performance of these new technologies in the energetic tidal and wave climates on the West Coast.
