Intro to Smartphone Photography

Are you a UVic student, faculty, or staff member who wants to learn more about using your smartphone for taking photos? Today’s smartphones pack surprisingly powerful and versatile cameras inside their slim design, but these pocket-size cameras can still have a bit of a learning curve, and the number of app options can be intimidating.

By the end of this hands-on, introductory workshop you will be familiar with some basics of photo composition to improve your photos, how to set focus and exposure with your camera, how to adjust white balance to get more accurate colour and lighting representation in your photos, how to set up a mini photo “studio” for photographing objects using a seamless white or black background, how to fix barrel distortion, and some basics of post-processing photos on your phone.
