Greener Approaches to Safe Drinking Water
We acknowledge with respect that our work takes place on the lands and waters of the Lekwungen peoples, and that our presence here impacts the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. We seek to use our research skills to address historical and ongoing environmental injustices and to empower communities in Canada and internationally through interventions at all stages of the drinking water supply chain. We apply a Green Engineering and Chemistry lens as one of many perspectives on these challenges and opportunities.
Faiza’s co-op term with our group is coming to an end! She has gained her first research experience working on catalyst optimization for the degradation of emerging contaminants in water. We thank her for her great work and wish her all the best in her next steps! 👏✨
Last week, our visiting researcher Frank gave his final presentation! He’s been working on using modified LIG electrodes to detect emerging contaminants in water systems. We’re grateful for his contributions and wish him a safe trip back to Brazil and good luck with his PhD defense (though we know he’ll crush it)! 🎓💪
