The DSC had our second Tech Petting Zoo yesterday, and this time we made it into the local news (video below)! The idea has been to provide a hands-on showcase of the various tools and services available from UVic Libraries.

We hauled out a wide range of items, such as: a 3D printer, Arduino and Raspberry Pi kits, a VR headset, a 360 camera, a GoPro kit, calipers, laptops, a graphics tablet, and a video display to showcase the available green screen room. The star of the show was the 3D printer — something  many people had not been able to see in action before.

Having access to technology is exciting, but it can be intimidating to get started on your own. So, many people were happy to learn about our free workshop, too.

Plans are afoot to bring the Tech Petting Zoo to other locations on campus. We have one planned for Engineering on January 23rd. Stay tuned!
