3D Printing for Engineering Capstone Project!

Photo of finished projectDuring the summer, the DS Commons had the opportunity to help a team of UVIC engineering students 3D print part of their award-winning capstone project. The group, Psiren Technologies, designed an emergency underwater notification device which will emit distinctive pulses of light and sound to help increase the chances of locating and rescuing a diver in distress.

The students 3D printed a holster casing for their final prototype. Activation and deactivation of the prototype are controlled by magnets embedded in the holster, which attaches to the diver. Check out the pictures below to see the holster casing and the final prototype of the scuba emergency notification device.
