About Me

The Life of Daniel Azarnoush – Who is Dan?

Hello! My name is Daniel Azarnoush. I’m 20 years old and currently a third-year student of computer science at the University of Victoria (UVic). I was born and raised in Canada; however, being of Persian ethnicity, I am very connected to and proud of my culture. Although I grew up in Canada, an English-speaking country, I was able to learn how to speak and understand Farsi, allowing me to have conversations with others. Recently, I set a goal to become more fluent in speaking Farsi and to learn to read and write in the language. I picked up a Farsi book from my local library, which I have been practicing with the help of my parents. Also because of the recent events occuring in Iran, I feel more connected since I also have family and friends

As for my interests, I am a huge football (soccer) enthusiast. I am a massive fan of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and was lucky to be able to watch the Champions League Final in Munich alongside other fans, as PSG lifted the first UCL and also completed a historic treble. I have also attended several football events during my trips in Europe and in America. Some of these include:

Paris Saint Germain Chant with Fans after Champions League Final 5-0 Win against Inter Milan in 2025 Germany, Munich
  • El Clásico (Real Madrid vs. FC Barcelona) friendly match in Las Vegas / 2022
  • PSG vs Lorient opening Ligue 1 match at the Parc des Princes / 2023
  • Football Legends Game (Featuring players like Ribery, Kaka, Makele, Van Der Sar, Matthaus & many more legendary players) / 2025
  • PSG vs Seattle Sounders during the FIFA Club World Cup group stage match / 2025
  • AC Milan vs Monza final Serie A match at the San Siro in Milano / 2025
  • Several local Vancouver Whitecaps matches at BC Place
  • Visiting Iconic Stadiums (Ajax’s Johan Cruyff Arena and Wembley Stadium in London)

I also like to play football and stay up to date with the most recent football news. I have my own football podcast where I share my thoughts and opinions on football news, matches and knowledge. Unfortunelty I have not posted on my podcast for a while due to my university studies and busy life schedule, however I am planning to run it again soon.

Outside of football and work, I like spending time with friends and family, going on hikes, visiting downtown Vancouver, hitting the gym, watching TV Shows, movies, and YouTube, listening to podcasts, and also playing some video games every now and then. I also love listening to Music everywhere I go and when completing work. You can listen to my Spotify playlist if you want to get a taste of my music type (French, Spanish, English, German, Farsi).

My Educational Journey

Growing up, I played a lot of video games and have always been interested in figuring out the process and development that goes behind them. I was also inspired by the hard work of both my mother, who is a computer programmer herself, and my father, who is a mechanical engineer.

I grew up in an area where technology was not as advanced as it is today. The transition from the past to the modern day and how fast technology has grown is mind-blowing. I was able to adapt quickly to this change in learning because of who I am and the help of my parents. I have an analytical mind and love solving puzzles, which is essentially what programming is about. When the pandemic hit in 2020, I was able to learn more about technology and the tools it has to offer. Tasks and assignments are now much easier to complete with the advanced technology we have today, such as ChatGPT and Copilot, which I ask questions or help with learning new topics and research, as well as windsurf, which has a built-in AI chat for programming.
