Resilience and Personal Wellbeing

September 26, 2018

Human Resources SED B125: 12:00 pm – 12:50 pm

Introduction: Resilience is the ability to bounce back after being blindsided by adversity. This session will explore the factors and potential stressors that could cause unwelcomed stress for people. Stressors are not always bad and often times help us to learn and evolve.

The session will identify some of the resources and strategies that help us to choose a positive path and help us increase our resilience. The more proactive strategies we have, the more resilient we are and the more likely that we will be able to cope with stress and adversity.

Social Wellbeing

October 24, 2018

Human Resources SED B125: 12:00 pm – 12:50 pm

Introduction: About one in five Canadians experience mental health issues at some point during their working years. According to the Mental Health Commission of Canada, it is estimated that mental illness costs the Canadian economy more than $50 billion per year in terms of healthcare service use, lost workdays and work disruptions.

A healthy Canadian economy – and a healthy workplace – relies on healthy minds. This presentation aims to raise awareness of the connection between mental wellbeing and workplace practices and to link staff and faculty to services and resources to build positive mental health.
