Ponder the cosmos at an astronomy open house
Megafires, mass protests, murder hornets, a global pandemic, and we’re not through 2020 yet! What could the universe possibly have left to serve up?
Perhaps a deeper look into the cosmos is exactly what we need to put it all into perspective. Find meaning in it all… or maybe just explore a bit of outerspace with the online Astronomy Open Houses.
The UVic Observatory is home to a 0.8 meter telescope, the largest telescope on any Canadian university campus. In normal times, the Department of Physics and Astronomy hosted an in-person open house where anyone could pop by to peer through the telescope. Organizers have brought the event online during the pandemic.
In the online series, each week sees a different speaker present on their research into the wonders of our universe. Zoom meetings take place every Wednesday evening starting at 7:30 and include a presentation and Q&A.
