Capturing community
Wild hair, pleated pants, bold patterns and low gas prices – Colin Newell captured everything in the eighties with his camera.
It all started back in 1973 when Colin, a long-time staff member in University Systems, began journals and photos chronicling daily life. The result is a fascinating archive of more than 10,000 photos of Victoria (and UVic) through the ages, bringing the history of the Victoria community to life.
This summer CTV News put together a great feature about Colin’s work. You can also learn a bit more about Colin on the University Systems’ Inside It blog.
