Inspiring youth to act on climate—at home

The team at UVic’s Ocean Networks Canada are all about connecting to the big blue—our ocean! And they want to keep students connected as well. Check out ONC’s Learning at Home series for activities, labs, videos and webinars.

The team is also heading into the homes of BC middle and high school students to inspire climate action through online teaching. The initiative is part of a new ONC K-12 climate series aimed at sparking youth climate action. Topics will include weather, climate and climate change, as well as impacts of ocean warming.

The curriculum also highlights how traditional ecological knowledge of Indigenous Peoples helps to understand the effects of climate change. Educators will also cover the topic of climate solutions, aka mitigation and adaptation.

The weeklong, virtual classroom visits are by teacher invitation, so let your teachers know about registration!
