How to respond to your loved one’s weight concerns

Research led by SWELL lab collaborator Dr. Christine Logel and SWELL lab director Dr. Danu Anthony Stinson concerning weight and social support  received a lot of press.

The study, published in the journal Personal Relationships, found that women who’s loved ones are critical of their weight actually gained weight over a nine-month period. In contrast, women who’s loved ones communicated that they accepted the women’s bodies just as they were maintained their weight and grew more accepting of their bodies over time.
