Tresley Tourond-Bouvier

Tresley Tourond-Bouvier is a Métis/Michif woman, a citizen of the Métis Nation- Saskatchewan, with settler roots (German) on her mother’s side. She is a mother of three, and an educator sharing her passion for Indigenous culture, language and land-based learning as an Indigenous Studies teacher on Treaty 4 territory, in Regina, Saskatchewan. Tresley was born in Moosomin, SK, and lived in Southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba before moving to BC as a young girl with her family. Most recently her families are from Rocanville, and Ste Marthe, SK. After learning, living and working on the unceded traditional territories of the Semiahmoo, Katzie, Kwikwetlem, Kwantlen, Musqueam, Qayqayt, Tsleil Waututh and Tsawwassen First Nations Peoples in the Lower Mainland of BC for over 20 years, Tresley returned with her husband and first child to the prairies in 2010. She earned her Bachelor of Education from the Regina Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program in 2019, and has been working as an educator since then. Tresley began to pursue her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction in 2022. Her research focus is on Michif Language Revitalization, she is a learner of Michif and Cree. Tresley’s maternal grandmother was multilingual as a fluent Michif speaker, as well as French and English. Tresley’s hope through her research and learning is to reclaim the Michif language for her family and community.
