
Tammy Ratt is a nēhiyaw, ēkwa Scottish iskwêw. minahik waskahigan ohcīyiwa wiya okāwiya (her mother is from Pinehouse Lake) and her mother tongue is nēhiyawēwin. Tammy is a beginning speaker of nēhiyawēwin. She is a mother, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, teacher and a student. oskana kā-asastēk ohciw, but she has family from minahik waskahigan ēkwa Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Tammy has a secondary Indigenous education degree, a masters degree in education and began her PhD in the fall of 2022. Her doctoral research examines Indigenous language education using art as a method of transmission.
