Welcome to land/body/art, a project of Kinship Rising.
About the Land/Body/Art Collective
We are an Indigenous-led research project hosted on the homelands of the lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ Nations. In making this acknowledgement, we extend deep gratitude to the ancestors of these territories and commit to everyday acts and practices that uphold their sovereignty.
We raise our hands in deep respect and acknowledgment
for all of those who have experienced gendered and sexualized violence,
for those who have been stolen from us,
for our circle of relations guiding us,
for all those who have shared and walked with us in this project,
and who resist, protect, survive, love, imagine, create, and hold up resurgence.
The land/body/art collective is part of Kinship Rising, a community-based, Indigenous-led research project focused on restoring the connection between body and land wellbeing and sovereignty. Kinship Rising fosters arts- and land-based projects across BC led by Indigenous young people and communities. Our work calls attention to the ongoing, intersecting forms of gendered, sexualized and ecological violence impacting Indigenous young people and nations. We are guided by the healing power of our land and water relatives. Using art and multimedia as a form of storytelling, we uphold positive representations of Indigenous kinship and wellbeing.
Over the next four years, our collective will be making and sharing numerous collective land/water and arts-based project. We invite you to visit our websites and to contact us for more information.
