Dr. Val Napoleon has been awarded the 2021 Law and Justice Indspire Award. Indspire Awards recognize Indigenous achievement in a number of different areas, and “represents the highest honour the Indigenous community bestows upon it’s own people”.
The award recognizes Val’s lifelong work as a leader in Indigenous law, including establishing the Indigenous Law Research Unit and co-founding the JD/JID program, and her work as the director of both initiatives, as well as her position as the Law Foundation Chair of Indigenous Justice and Governance at UVic.
A recording of the 2021 Indspire Awards will be available on CBC Gem, along with recordings of past years’ award ceremonies.
