Echo the wellness companion dog is back at UVic Law

Have you met the latest addition to the Law Library team?

The library is pleased to welcome back Echo, a black lab retriever, to the law school this week!  Echo is available to JD and law grad students as a wellness companion – part of UVic Law’s and the Law Library’s on-going commitment to student wellness and support.

To spend time with Echo, students must come to the law library loan desk and check out Echo’s care guidelines booklet, call number K9 Echo 2017.

Echo’s availability this week will be between approximately 10:00 am and 3:00 pm daily. Toward the end of this week we will let you know about Echo’s availability into the exam period.

While animals are normally not permitted in UVic buildings,  UVic administration has granted a temporary exception for Echo, with conditions. Please respect those conditions (indicated in the care guidelines booklet). The conditions include that, should a student take Echo outside, the student must take Echo out through the main building doors. Echo isn’t permitted to be in the student lounge or other building areas, including the library, because of allergen concerns.

Remember that Amicus Team support remains available to law students throughout the year and that the law library’s Relaxation Station, is available whenever the library is open.
