Meet the Team
About Rhianna
With the CEL team and others, Rhianna facilitates communities of practice for CEL actors; develops tools and resources to support the pedagogical and relationship aspects of CEL; leads strategic planning processes; and builds capacity and institutional support for CEL. She received an MA from the Community-Based Research lab in Geography at UVic and a BSc from the Global Resource Systems program in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia. Through her academic studies, her work with the former Institute for Studies and Innovation in Community-University Engagement, her current role and her work in the non-profit sector, Rhianna has created and supported multiple community-engaged research and learning projects focusing on diverse areas of interest, such as immigration in Greater Victoria, collaborative waste management, sustainable food systems, and the scholarship of teaching and learning (with a particular focus on CEL).
About Rosa
Rosa received an MA in Community-Based Research from the Sustainability Studies Department at Trent University and a BA from the Anthropology program at the University of Victoria. Through her academic studies, Rosa got into program evaluation, participatory action research, arts-based engagement methods, and how to build social connectedness in multi-stakeholder participatory projects. Primarily working in the not-for-profit sector locally and internationally, Rosa has delivered knowledge exchanges and worked within communities and schools to discuss sustainability issues. Her passion is supporting collaborative partnerships that bring creativity, curiosity and care to the strategies addressing the unique social, environmental, and economic challenges. She is excited about the opportunity to support the CEL office and cultivate respectful and meaningful community-campus relationships. She is very thankful to be able to do this work on the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples.
