Dear pre-digitalers and book lovers,

Hoping this email finds you all well and that you look forward to our pre-digital encounters of the year, I have the great pleasure to announce the arrival of Heather Dean as Associate Director for the Special Collections of the University of Victoria Libraries. Heather Dean received her Master of Archival Studies and Master of Library and Information Studies degrees from the University of British Columbia, and a Master of Arts in English Literature from the University of Victoria. She comes to UVic from Yale University’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Welcome Heather!

This important change in the library brings also change for our pre-digital informal seminar. With the same openness, curiosity, and inclusivity, our group will now meet under the aegis of the Special Collections, on the Thursdays, at 12:30. Visit the library webpage: Teas and Treasures start this week, with Wendy Morton discussing the Art of Printing (https://www.uvic.ca/library/locations/home/spcoll/events/index.php)

On October 16, your servant will present the iconic Vesalius' Fabrica (1555), a book which never gets boring! I attach the beautiful invitation designed by the library for this event.

Erin and I are very happy to partner with the Special Collections in this way: with your support and your presence, we'll keep bringing together researchers, students, artists and members of our community to explore and share materials from the collections. Please, send us your ideas, desires, or proposals for presentations!

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday(s),

Amicalement,
Hélène
