Graduate students at most universities are typically required to deposit their works in their institution’s open access repository – a requirement for graduation. Does the same mandate apply to depositing their work with a specific commercial publisher – Proquest as well. The latter provides toll-access only. Clement discusses the importance of providing graduate students the choice of where they publish. Why are grads not given the same choice as faculty members – the freedom “to publish in whatever vehicle suits their needs and goals…”
