Dr. Basma Majerbi will present: Financial Structure and Development: The Role of Non-bank Financial Institutions and Credit Unions

Dr. Majerbi investigates the role of non-bank financial institutions and credit unions in promoting economic growth in her paper, “Financial Structure and Development: The Role of Non-bank Financial Institutions and Credit Unions”. In this presentation Dr. Majerbi will discuss how the results from her study have important policy implications. In particular, why financial cooperatives and credit unions should receive more attention from policy makers in their efforts to foster financial sector development and push for a more diversified financial system structure to increase access to finance especially in developing countries.

Dr. Majerbi is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Gustavson School of Business and the operations chair of the Centre for Social and Sustainable Innovation.
