Working with communities and Nations to identify their interests, needs and opportunities in support of energy transitions.
Northern Regional Energy Dialogues
During Phase 1, Northern Regional Energy Dialogues, we’re working with diverse communities and First Nations across Northern British Columbia to help them identify their interests, needs and opportunities in support of renewable energy transitions. The current phase of the project is focused on convening community-based and regional energy dialogues. Future phases will support targeted and community-identified capacity building initiatives and help formalize them with enduring peer networks.

Community Conversations
Community conversations will be happening across Northern BC throughout 2024/2025 and are open to anyone to participate or facilitate. The purpose of the community conversations is to spark dialogue and identify local interests and needs around energy. After the community conversations, the research team compiles a community report.

Following our Guidebook, participants will answer a set of questions together that will help to shape priorities and implement actions for their community’s energy future. We estimate that questions may take 1-2 hours to complete. The information gathered by the conversations will help shape a regional workshop where communities can connect with others on energy issues.

We are currently searching for facilitators to lead energy conversations in their communities. Facilitators are asked to guide the conversation and report back to our team on the discussion. For more details on what facilitating a community conversation will involve, please see our Facilitator’s Guide.
Our team is available to support conversation planning, and funding is available for space rental, supplies, and refreshments. If you are interested or would like to learn more, please contact Aleah Jordan, Community Coordinator at: aleahjordan@uvic.ca.
