Prayers On Campus

Jumuah Prayer

There is a weekly Friday prayer held at Uvic in the Multifaith Chapel. Prayers are held year round from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM. Facilities include multi-stall washrooms for men and women each. There is a separate, private women’s area located behind the men’s prayer area.

NOTE: Jumuah prayers are administered by the BCMA. You can contact them at victoria@thebcma.com or 250-995-1422.

Prayer Room

All Muslim students are welcome to use our designated prayer room located in Sedgewick C125 (see this map for location). The room is permanently locked and accessible by numeric code, please send us an email to info@uvicmsa.ca and we will send you the code. Across the hallway from the prayer room are single-stall washrooms suitable for making wudhu. Please help yourself to the many information pamphlets, dawah materials, Qu’rans, and English translations of the Qu’rans which are available for your use.

There will be regular congregation of Dhuhur, Asr, Magrib (at the MSA room) and Isha/Taraweeh prayer (at UVic Multifaith Centre) during the whole month of Ramadan at UVic in sha Allah. Please join us, if you are available at that time. Iqamah: 5 minutes after prayer time.

NOTE: The Sedgewick building is locked at 10:00pm on weekdays and on during the weekend. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we are unable to access the prayer room when the building is locked.

Praying Elsewhere On Campus

Many students studying in the library choose to pray in the basement at the back of the compact shelving area. You are welcome to use this space for praying, but keep in mind it is not a designated prayer area and other students may use the library shelving units.
