Call for sponsorship, donation, or food preparation for Ramadan Iftars

Ramadan is just around the corner, and as we prepare to observe this holy month, we are reminded of the importance of community, compassion, and generosity. As the Muslim Students Association at the University of Victoria, we are planning to organize iftar everyday at UVic and we urge our community to come together and support our fellow Muslim students during this blessed month. According to many narrations of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast, shall have great rewards, including having their sins forgiven in-sha-Allah, and they will be saved from the Fire of Hell. Moreover, they shall have the same reward as the fasting person, without their reward being diminished at all and rewards multiplied by 70.

Furthermore, we have recently learned that nearly two-thirds of UVic students are facing some level of food insecurity, as reported by Izzy Adachi, a board member with the student society, on February 10, 2023. It is our duty as Muslims to support our Muslim brothers and sisters in any way that we can in this blessed month. To support this initiative, you can fill out the form to sponsor one or more days of breakfast or donate money towards the cause. We expect an average of 70 individuals to have breakfast at UVic.

Additionally, if you have any questions or want to reach out to the Muslim Students Association, you can contact us at msauvic@gmail.com or on phone 778.700.3535.

Let us come together to support our fellow Muslim students during this blessed month of Ramadan. Remember that the rewards for giving iftar during Ramadan are immense, and we have the opportunity to earn the blessings and forgiveness of Allah (SWT).

May Allah (SWT) bless you and accept your support. May Allah increase your wealth and protect your health!! Jazakum Allahu khairan!
