Islamic Awareness Week

Our next major event planned for this semester is a series of workshops and lectures for Islamic Awareness Week, happening in the first week of March inshAllah. We would like everyone’s feedback and suggestions in planning the activities so we can be well prepared.

We are seeking volunteers to join us to help make this event a success. Please do not forget the rewards behind volunteering to help us represent Islam to the community. If you are interested in getting involved, please fill out the Volunteer for Islam form. You can also sign up today after Jumuah prayer where we will be circulating a volunteer sign-up sheet.

The workshops will be lead by our dawah expert brother Abdulaziz from the MSA team. He is a PhD student in the Electrical & Computer Engineering department. He obtained his Master’s degree from the University of Birmingham in the UK.
Aside from his formal studies, he studied Islamic studies with various scholars and is qualified to be a da’iyah (caller to Islam). Prior to coming to Victoria, he was an official Imam for over 7 years. With over 10 years spent in dawah, Abdulaziz has been involved in different communities giving lectures, teaching Quran, running workshops, and counselling.

We have an exciting lineup of speakers planned for this event. More details will be announced in the near future so stay tuned!
