Paper Development Workshop

An opportunity for special issue authors who received a first-round R&R

Our events bring together diverse and highly dedicated researchers, practitioners and policy-makers from across the world to improve activities involving globally mobile individuals and the organizations that employ them.

Our primary purpose is to improve the ways in which globally mobile employees are integrated in their organizations. We plan to accomplish this by sharing knowledge across three groups who all address these questions from different perspectives:

1)   International business researchers, who specialize in effectively integrating globally mobile employees.

2)   Practitioners, such as those working for immigrant service organizations or HR consultancies.

3)   Policy makers who focus on immigrant employment issues.

Each of these groups have knowlede to share with the others based on their unique areas of expertise.

The Paper Development Workshop on June 13-15th improved the quality of research on global mobility in multinational enterprises, by workshopping manuscripts together with the special issue editors and other experts. The Migration, Mobility & the Future of Work Colloquium on August 3rd and 4th included keynote presentations by practitioners and scholars, and active working sessions for attendees to collaborate, share knowledge, and build new relationships.

By the end of these events, all attendees had a new community of people who work on similar issues, from different angles.
