Welcome to the UVic course website for Psychology of Migration! This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the psychological factors that influence the migration process, including the experiences of both migrants and the host communities they join. Through a range of theoretical and practical approaches, students will explore topics such as the motivations behind migration, the challenges faced by migrants, and the impact of migration on mental health and well-being. With a focus on contemporary global migration patterns, this course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to critically analyze and evaluate the complex psychological dynamics of migration.

Community-Engaged Learning (CEL)
This course emphasizes the importance of collaboration between students and local communities to foster meaningful learning experiences. Through this course, students engage with one of the community organizations and learn how to create positive change in the world. Students are working with experienced community leaders and migrants who have a wealth of knowledge to share. By actively participating in CEL, we hope that students will be taking an important step toward becoming a responsible and engaged citizen.
