Here you’ll find the forms that will explain how to participate in this project, what participation might look like for you, and/or even stuff that can explain a little more about the lineage of this project, how it started and where it is now. My (Kikila) hope is that some of this will be useful to other community-based projects, and lead to stronger relationships.
Forms
Here are the forms that are associated with this project, either to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those communities who this project interacts with, the territories on which this project takes place, or because of Human Research Ethics requirements.
- Consent form (Indigenous Community Advisory) Indigenous Descent
- Consent form (Project Community) Settler Descent
- Consent Form (ICA) Project Elder
- Consent Form (Other Participants) Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Consent Form (OP) Indigenous Descent
- Consent Form (OP) Settler Descent
- Draft Questions for Interviews and Focus Groups
- Community Mapping and Relational Timelines Outline
- Consent form (Project Community – HAT) Settler Descent
At the same time this website is being put together, the consent forms are going to be reworked so that they aren’t so colonial looking. They will have the same information, just in a language and a format that is better for actual human beings.
Documentation
These are some of the documents that describe where this project came from. All of these were written by me (Kikila) before gathering the Indigenous Community Advisory (ICA). Since the ICA will modify the research questions and angles that we are taking, these are guides to the process, and to the ideas as they grew from seeds.
- Approved Ethics Application
- Certificate of Approval
- Certificate of Ethics Amendment (June & October 2023)
- Project Proposal as submitted to Supervisory Committee
- Observational Protocols submitted to Ethics Board
- COVID-assessment as submitted to Ethics Board
All of the above were written specifically for the Human Research Ethics Board review of the project and aren’t very fun to read. They’re very academic and the language is elitist and distancing. This website and anything put out by the ICA or myself from this point on will be more accessible to community and for folx not navigating the academy.
