The South Island Powwow is once again being held by the Songhees (lək̓ʷəŋən), and it will be taking place on 30 September 2023 at so-called Royal Athletic Park. There are volunteer sign-ups already. It is a part of Songhees honouring of Residential School survivors and their families on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and a great chance to support a local Nation with that Nation’s invitation, on their terms.
