ĆENŦEKI (moon) Events (Sampson Powwow!)

We are about to enter the new moon of ĆENŦEKI (June 18), the moon when the Sockeye Salmon return to Earth in W̱SÁNEĆ territory. It’s a good time of year, and there are a number of rad events going on around W̱SÁNEĆ and lək̓ʷəŋən.

  • 21 June (National Indigenous Peoples’ Day (in canada))
    • Restoration for Songhees, with Cheryl Bryce and Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT). 9am-noon, register here on the HAT website. (you’ll receive more info once registered)

While not taking place during ĆENŦEKI, the 28th Annual Sampson Family Intertribal Powwow “Honouring Wəťanmy” is taking place this July 21, 22, 23 at Stelly’s Secondary School in W̱SÁNEĆ territory and the Sampson Family are looking for W̱ENITEM (settler) volunteers!
