Mirroring the pull
Behaviour Management Systems training stipulates least force necessary for asking students with exceptionalities to follow someone out of the room. An observed behaviour, on site, has been that an adult pulled a student’s arm to encourage them to come with them. Later that student with exceptionalities mirrored this and began pulling on an adult’s arm to come with them and this was met with negative reaction. A confusing message that accompanies a rule that is only sometimes followed.
