The Lucky One

I’m the oldest in the family:
Two sisters, two brothers, younger than me.

The youngest had my same problems,
His kidneys went on him too.

Not only did we have the same illness,
We were mistaken for one another a number of times.

But my problems aren’t anywhere close to his,
What goes through my mind is his suffering.

I’ve had all the good things
And then I think of my brother.

I start feeling that I’m missing something.
I think of him and kick myself in the backside.

I consider myself really lucky,
My problems aren’t anywhere close to his.
