Symbols of living in-between:  Re-stor(y)ing life within life-threatening illness

The pages within this section are based on an art exhibit that was created during our first study.  People shared symbols and spoke about their experiences of living with life-threatening illness .The original art exhibit was displayed in hospitals, provincial government buildings and community centres.

Some of the text are direct quotations from the participants. There is also poetry that was  created by  the research team and are  based on the words of participants. Our aim for this exhibit was was to understand the experience of living with the uncertainty of a serious illness. In addition, we were interested in conveying how people make sense of life following a diagnosis of cancer, chronic kidney disease, or HIV/AIDS.
