Oral Narratives of BC’s HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Preserving the Past Through Storytelling to Address Present & Persistent Challenges
This research focuses on long-term survivors of British Columbia’s HIV/AIDS epidemic as well as on community caregivers who supported people living with HIV/AIDS in the first decade of the epidemic. We are seeking participants to take part in interviews to share their stories and experiences of the epidemic. We are set up for interviews at private study offices in downtown Vancouver and Victoria, but if it is difficult for you to get there or if you live outside of these cities, we may be able to come to your home or do the interview online or over the phone. The interview will last approximately 2-3 hours and involve sharing your experiences of the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and community response. In appreciation of your time, you will receive $50 cash.
The research is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Vancouver Foundation, and has been reviewed and approved by the Research Ethics Boards of the University of Victoria, University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University. If you are interested in more information about the study or would like to participate please email us at bjk8@sfu.ca or call 778-886-9417 (long distance outside Vancouver) or else 1-844-472-4606.
