Prof. Cai Appointed Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Cai has been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (TVT), a leading international journal in vehicular technology, wireless communications, and intelligent transportation systems. This prestigious appointment recognizes Prof. Cai’s outstanding research contributions, academic leadership, and long-standing service to the global research community.

As Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Cai will oversee the journal’s editorial strategy, peer-review process, and initiatives to further enhance its academic impact and international visibility. Under her leadership, the journal is expected to continue advancing high-quality research in emerging areas such as connected and autonomous vehicles, next-generation vehicular communications, network intelligence, and cybersecurity for transportation systems.

Pu Yang was awarded the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad

Recently, the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Vancouver announced the outcome of the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad at Vancouver serving area, in which Pu Yang, a Ph.D. candidate at CNLab, was awarded for A class.

The Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad is the highest government award granted by the Chinese government to Chinese doctoral students who study overseas, as well as postdoctoral researchers who conduct research and have received doctorates overseas. It was established in 2003 by the China Scholarship Council under the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.

Dr. Lin Cai is elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada!

On September 3, 2024, the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) announced the election of new Fellows into their esteemed ranks, in which Dr. Lin Cai was newly elected as a Fellow of RSC.

Fellows are Canada’s most eminent scholars who make remarkable contributions in academia and Canadian public life. Members of the College are academics less than 15 years from the date of their PhD. There are currently 2,524 Fellows and 436 members of the College of New Scholars in Canada.

New accept of IEEE Transactions on Information Theory

We are excited to announce that Feng Ye and his team’s paper, “Privacy-Preserving Average Consensus: Fundamental Analysis and a Generic Framework Design,” has been accepted by the prestigious IEEE Transactions on Information Theory.

The paper addresses privacy-preserving mechanisms in average consensus, a critical topic in distributed systems, machine learning, and blockchain. The proposed framework combines rigorous theoretical insights with practical applicability, ensuring system efficiency and privacy protection.

Dr. Lin Cai is elected as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering!

On June 5, 2023, the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced the election of 55 new Fellows into their esteemed ranks. Dr. Lin Cai has been recognized as a CAE Fellow, 2023. 

“Over the past 36 years, Fellows of the Academy have provided engineering leadership in the fields of education, infrastructure, innovation, energy, transportation, and many more,” said Soheil Asgarpour, President of the CAE, during the announcement. “New Fellows have been selected for their outstanding contributions to engineering in Canada and around the world and for their service as role models in their fields and to their communities.”

Dr. Lin Cai is named a Fellow of the IEEE

IEEE announced the election outcome for IEEE Fellow. Dr. Lin Cai is named an IEEE Fellow for her contributions to topology control of wireless networks.  

The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The IEEE is the world’s leading professional organization for advancing technology for humanity.

Professor Lin Cai receives 2019 E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowship

Canada’s 2019 Top Natural Sciences and Engineering Researchers Awards Celebration was held on May 6, 2019. Dr. Lin Cai received a 2019 E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowship, the highest honor bestowed on young science and engineering professors by Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

Established in 1965, up-to six E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowships are awarded annually to outstanding and highly promising faculty members across all science and engineering fields. Cai is the first woman in Electrical & Computer Engineering to receive this prestigious award, presented by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada at Rideau Hall on May 6, 2019.
