Teens @ Home During COVID-19

In collaboration with Dr. Stephanie Craig (University of Guelph), we asked Canadian teens to complete this confidential online survey on the impact of COVID-19 and the anti-racism movement on teen mental health.

Our study included two groups of youth participants. The first group was a cross-sectional sample of 809 youth and 500 parents who completed a survey during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic (June–July 2020). The second group took part in a longitudinal study, completing online surveys three times over the course of a year (2020–2021). Every six months, they answered questions about their mental health, relationships with caregivers and mentors, and other health behaviours. Findings from this research are still being published and continue to provide valuable insights.

This work was supported by an internal University of Victoria Faculty of Social Sciences COVID-19 Research Fund (PI: Ames) and a SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant (PI: Craig).
